British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) stipulates that registered members use of  a social media be considered carefully to maintain the nursing profession and client integrity.  In order to maintain this integrity, Emotionally Aligned Counselling & Coaching LTD is setting out a social media policy that is in line with the College’s expectations.  The intention of the policy is to ensure  that you understand how we will interact with you online.

Part of a nurse’s obligation to their client is that WE keep your relationship with us confidential. The responsibility of confidentiality rests with the nurse. That means that we will not share any client information online. If there are specific contexts that you would be Ok with us sharing, we will ask for written consent to do so. You are able to share your life and experiences online as you wish. You can share about our relationship, and your connection to Emotionally Aligned Counselling & Coaching as much or as little as you wish when interacting on our social media profiles or on your own profile. 

Be aware that if  you choose to engage with our social media pages and profiles, others may think that you have a therapeutic relationship with one of our nurses.

If you choose to post, share, like or comment on our social media accounts we will respond to you as if you were anyone else interacting with our pages.

Please note that if you reach out to us on any of the social media platforms you are consenting to their terms and conditions, not ours. We cannot guarantee the confidentiality of your interactions with us on those platforms. This includes the messaging systems (direct messages) on the platforms. We cannot guarantee the security of the messages you send or that others may not gain access to your accounts and see the messages. If  you choose to send direct messages on social media to us. You are doing so knowing the risks.

If you are a client of our practice please use your client portal to send messages to us to ensure that what you are sharing is only between us.

We also do not guarantee that we will respond in a timely manner on social media. Therefore, if you are in need of our attention please make sure to contact us through our practice’s client portal, email us or call us.

To maintain proper boundaries of our therapeutic relationships, we will never friend or follow you online. Our clinicians will also never friend/follow you on their personal profiles. This is to maintain  everyone’s dignity, safety and integrity. All requests by clients to interact made on clinician’s personal profile on any social media profile/account will be declined.
