Welcome to Emotionally Aligned Counselling & Coaching Ltd. Helping adults move from survival toward safety, connection, and resilience Nervous System & Trauma Therapy

Find Safety Within Yourself

Healing begins when your nervous system no longer has to stay in survival mode.

If you’ve spent years living with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, depression, or the lasting effects of complex trauma, you know how exhausting it can be to simply make it through each day. You may feel stuck in patterns of hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-criticism—wondering why change feels so difficult despite your best efforts.
The truth is, these responses are not signs of weakness nor are they personality traits. They are adaptive survival strategies shaped by your life experiences and (usually) early relationships your nervous system was exposed to.
As a Registered Nurse specializing in mental health counselling, I offer compassionate, evidence-informed therapy rooted in neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed care. Together, we’ll explore how your mind, body, and relationships have been shaped by your experiences while building the emotional and nervous system skills and capacity needed to cultivate greater regulation, resilience, and connection.
Healing isn’t about fixing yourself or forcing yourself to feel better. It’s about helping your nervous system remember (or discover) what safety feels like and learn a new way of being.

Your Symptoms Make Sense

Perhaps you’ve wondered why anxiety seems to take over, why relationships feel overwhelming, or why you constantly feel “on edge,” even when life appears stable.
You  may have been told you’re “too sensitive,” “too anxious,” or that you simply need to think more positively. In more extreme cases you may have persistent and ruminating thoughts about specific events or situations.
These experiences aren’t character flaws.
They’re often the result of a nervous system that learned to survive in environments where safety, consistency, or emotional connection were limited or unpredictable.
Our earliest relationships shape the way we experience ourselves and others. When early childhood attachment needs aren’t consistently met, our nervous system adapts in remarkable ways to keep us safe. Those adaptations—while once protective—can later contribute to chronic anxiety, depression, emotional numbness, leading to relationship struggles, or feelings of disconnected from yourself and/or others.

Healing begins with understanding these adaptations through compassion rather than judgment.

  • Low self-worth and shame
Whether you’re beginning therapy for the first time or have spent years in therapy trying to understand yourself but still feel stuck, our work together focuses on helping you move beyond survival and toward lasting wellbeing.

My Approach

Therapy That Works With Your Nervous System—Not Against It

Healing happens when both the mind and body feel safe enough to change naturally .
My approach integrates several complementary, evidence-informed frameworks that help explain your experiences while offering practical pathways toward healing:
Polyvagal Theory
Learn to recognize the different states of your nervous system and understand why you shift into fight, flight, freeze, shutdown, or connection. Together we’ll build the capacity to move more flexibly between these states rather than feeling trapped within them.
Attachment Theory
Our earliest relationships influence how we experience safety, trust of self and others, intimacy, and connection throughout life. By understanding your attachment patterns, we can begin to heal relational wounds and create more secure relationships—with others and with yourself.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Rather than fighting or judging anxiety, inner criticism, or emotional overwhelm, we’ll approach each protective part of you with curiosity and compassion. Every part developed for a reason, and healing occurs when those parts no longer have to carry so much responsibility alone and work so hard to keep you safe.
Neuroscience
Understanding how the brain changes through neuroplasticity helps us create practices that support lasting emotional regulation. Therapy becomes practical, understandable, and grounded in science.
Mental Health Nursing Perspective
As a Registered Nurse, I bring an integrated understanding of both physical and emotional health. I recognize the profound relationship between the brain, body, spirit, nervous system, and emotional wellbeing, allowing therapy to address the whole person rather than a series of isolated symptoms.
